But Wikipedia said so…

“Waddya mean ‘why am I there’?”Blank, slightly surly, entitled to do whatevs stare.

BECAUSE I AM THE FIRST TEACHER EVER WHO HAS SUGGESTED THAT WIKIPEDIA IS NOT A VALID RESEARCH TOOL.

 Ever.

Even Wikipedia points out the same things that I do. ANYBODY can anonymously edit the information in the article. Certainly unpaid minions are monitoring the site, but even Wikipedia states that vandalism and misinformation happens.

Wikipedia could be used as a basic building block to get a student started on researching a topic. It does link to outside articles, and can potentially provide specific terminology along with a simplistic understanding of a topic, BUT….
Insert Charlie Brown teacher voice noise over reason and logic.

Logic and reason cannot defeat the love of the first site that pops up when you Google the most literal research terms possible because “there is nothing else.”

Nothing else at all.

So I present this final argument.

It was at the grocery store. Inside it says,”You’re welcome.”
